The success rate of assisted reproductive technology varies and depends on several factors. Such factors may include the following:
- The age of both men and women;
- Reasons of fertility problems;
- Type of procedure they want to use;
- The egg is frozen or fresh; or
- The embryo is frozen or fresh.
The United States Center for Disease Prevention normally gathers the success rate of infertility cases that is treated using ART. According to their 2003 report, the percentage of infertility cases that is treated using the ART cycle and later on led to a fit baby were the following:
- 37.3 percent in women under age of 35
- 30.2 percent in women between age 35 to 37
- 20.2 percent in women between age 37 to 40
- 11.0 percent of women between age 41 to 42
