How common is infertility?
Answered By Isabel Tagge
Several studies show that infertility is common to the reproductive age population. One of which is the study conducted by the American Society for Reproductive Medicine that says that infertility affects around 6.1 million Americans or an equivalent of 10 percent of the reproductive age population.
Another study conducted by the National Center for Health Statistics states that approximately 4.5 million couples are experiencing infertility problems every year, where less than 2 million of these infertile couples actually seek aid from the medical community. Though infertility is not epidemic, it is relatively a common problem both in men and women.
