Do insurance plans cover infertility treatment?
Answered By Isabel Tagge
There are insurance plans that cover infertility treatment, although such coverage is dependent on where you live and the type of insurance policy you have availed. Presently, there are 12 states that enacted laws that require insurance providers either to fully or partially cover some form of infertility diagnosis and treatments. These states are as follows:
- Arkansas;
- California;
- Connecticut;
- Hawaii;
- Illinois;
- Maryland;
- Massachusetts;
- Montana;
- New York;
- Ohio;
- Rhode Island; and
- Texas.
Such laws enacted on each state may differ on the cope and the items that are to be covered. For more information regarding insurance coverage on infertility diagnosis and treatments, you can refer from the State Infertility Insurance Laws page of the American Society for Reproductive Medicine website.
