Fertility Drugs

by Shola Oslo

Often fertility drugs are prescribed for women who are having problems conceiving. These medications can be helpful to some couple who are trying to have a baby, but a lot have experienced unwanted side effects.

One drug that is very frequently prescribed for women is clomiphene, also known as clomifene citrate. This drug is sold under the names: Milophene, Clomid, and Serophene. It works by adjusting the hormone balance in such a way as to promote ovulation. This drug is usually prescribed as a pill.

The common side effects of this medication are stomach pain, tenderness of breast, vomiting, blurred vision, headaches and tiredness. Mood swings, irritation and depression are some of the other associated side effects. In some occasions, women taking this drug will have weight gain and they also have more chances of getting ovarian cysts.

Vaginal dryness is another side effect to be noted. This can be treated by using a vaginal lubricant or a jelly that is sperm-friendly. The success rate with clomid is not high because the quality of the egg produced is poor, but it increases the possibility of multiple pregnancies.

Bromocriptine is another drug which is prescribed if there is hormonal imbalance of prolactin. This drug is available in the market as Parlodel in the tablet form, also available as capsule and vaginal suppository.

Possible side effects are nausea, dry mouth or a stuffy nose. There may be headaches, or some dizziness from low blood pressure. You may find a tendency to drowsiness, or even falling asleep, so be careful what you do if taking Bromocriptine. The success rate is also not very high, but it can lower prolactin levels, which is beneficial for women suffering an imbalance of the hormone.

As you can see it is possible to get pregnant using fertility drugs, but there are so many side effects associated with taking artificial substances. If you are having problems conceiving and you are thinking of popping a pill, please consider a natural whole-body alternative.

This natural method restores the hormonal balance by removing the toxins from the body and makes the liver healthy and thereby increases fertility. The main organ that is responsible for hormonal balance is the liver. Cleansing the body not only gives a healthy and effective liver but also keeps the other organs like colon and kidneys healthy.

In addition to body cleansing there are herbal remedies, such as FertilPlus which comes in a male and a female formula. These provide the body with plant compounds scientifically proven to balance hormone levels, and increase sperm production and ovulation naturally.
